Trumbull History

Trumbull was initially organized in 1639 as a part of Stratford, a town in Connecticut. Early settlers constructed their barns and houses along the Farm Highway. The citizens of Trumbull petitioned for incorporation after the Revolutionary War, when the area had a sizeable population. The townspeople desired incorporation because they found it inconvenient to have to go to Stratford for town meetings. Trumbull was eventually incorporated in October of 1797.
