Wenatchee History
Wenatchee was once inhabited by Native American tribes. Fur traders of the Northwest Fur Company first entered present day Wenatchee city during 1811 to trade with the Indians. Throughout the 1800s, a number of white settlers arrived in this region. A Catholic priest named Father Respari began his missionary work in this area in 1863. The city was platted in September 1888 and incorporated on January 7, 1893.
