Davison History
Eleazer Thurston, who was the first settler of Davidson, arrived in 1842. The city was named after Judge Norman Davison, who established a nearby town, which at that time was called Davisonville, but is now known as Atlas. The first post office, which was established in 1850, was called the Davison Centre, but was later renamed as Davison. The city was officially incorporated in 1889, as a village, and in 1938, it was incorporated as a city. Several well-known people hailed from Davison including the filmmaker, Michael Moore.
