Carrollton History

Carrollton was named after Charles Carroll?s estate on the Chesapeake Bay. The original plan was to name the area Troupville after former governor George Troup, but as Troup?s popularity fell, the Georgia General Assembly decided to name the area Carrollton instead. It was incorporated in December of 1829.
