La Mirada, California, in Los Angeles county, is 3 miles N of Buena Park, California and 8 miles NW of Anaheim, California . The city has been recognized as a "Best Place to Live" location by CNN Money Magazine.

La Mirada History
La Mirada was established by Andrew McNally, the founder of Rand McNally Publishing Company and Edwin Neff. In 1888 McNally bought a large acreage and established the Windemere Ranch which became a prominent olive oil processing facility. He also constructed a railroad station which provided an opportunity to ship his olive oil and citrus crops all over the country. During 1896 McNally and Neff founded the La Mirada Land Company and began to advertise tracts of land for sale. In 1953 they sold their land, which was one of the biggest real estate sales in the state. The city was incorporated in 1960 and experienced a major housing boom.
