Alexander City History

Alexander City was originally named Youngstown after James Young, the founder of the city. It was incorporated in 1872. The Savannah and Memphis Railroad first entered the city in 1873. Later on, the city's name was changed to Alexander City in honor of E.P. Alexander, the railroad's president. The city is also home to Russell Corporation, which was founded in 1902.
